FAQ - Adobe Sign In and Adobe ID

Please note that the following FAQs concerning SCM lab computers ONLY. These computers use Adobe Shared Device License (SDL), by which all users logged on these lab computers can use the Adobe CC applications freely. However, these licenses do not cover usage on personal computers.

  1. Adobe CC 2019 (onwards) Requires Adobe ID Login?
    The latest version of Adobe CC requires every user to login using the Adobe ID. Starting from 1 Jan 2021, users do not need to create their own Adobe ID if they use the Adobe CC apps on SCMLAB machines. They can use CityU account and login via CityU login page. Steps:
    • Sign in with your CityU email address when prompted:



    • Choose Company or School Account (if you are prompted):



    • Sign in with your EID and CITYUMD password in CityU login page:

  2. Why am I prompted with a confirmation dialog box while my session is still active?
  3. When users forget to sign out after they have finished their works. The following account confirmation will be shown for protection of users and their asset files:



    Please click "Continue" if it is still yourself, or click "Sign out" if the signed in account is not yours.
  4. What happens if a user walks away from an authenticated lab machine?
    Users are asked to confirm their sign-in again (or you can logout), when the first of the followings happens:

    • 90 minutes of idle time
    • machine shutdown
    • user logout
  5. Why do I need to sign in when I use Adobe CC?
    It is Adobe arrangement for users to sign in when they work on machines using the Shared Device Licensing (SDL). For more information on this SDL, please visit:
